As many as 70 soldiers were arrested as a part of the investigation against the coupist Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) over using the Bylock program, a cell phone application that has been used by the terrorist organization since 2014 for conducting secret writing and messaging.
The detainees included commissioned officers and the total number of the arrested Bylock user soldiers reached 315.
The detentions followed the arrest warrants issued by prosecutors in Istanbul.
Turkey has been conducting an extensive investigation into FETÖ following the coup bid of July 15, which targeted the democratically-elected Turkish government.
Tens of thousands of people were detained in the investigation following the coup bid and many more were removed from public duty in post-coup bid purges.
The coup bid was instigated by Fetullah Gülen, the leader of FETÖ, who is currently in the U.S.
Turkey has been demanding the immediate extradition of the terrorist leader from the U.S., as related talks continue between the two countries.
