The Chief Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul filed an indictment against 40 attorneys for being linked to the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) on Friday.
The indictments were prepared against each suspect separately by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office as part of an investigation into FETO-linked lawyers.
In the indictments, some suspected lawyers were also accused of using the smartphone app, ByLock, which FETÖ members reportedly used.
The indictments were approved by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and later sent to the Istanbul High Criminal Court.
FETÖ and its U.S.-based leader Fetullah Gulen orchestrated the defeated coup attempt of July 15, 2016, which left 250 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
Turkey also accuses FETÖ of being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary.
