Turkish police have started to conduct searches in a number of courthouses and jails in the Turkish province of Istanbul after prosecution issued arrest warrants for 87 courthouse staff and 75 probation officers as a part of the investigation against the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ).

The search is being conducted in Çağlayan, Gaziosmanpaşa and Büyükçekmece Courthouses along with Silivri, Metris and Bakırköy jailhouses and Anadolu and Bakırköy Probation Offices.

Previously on September 23, 20 more suspects working at Istanbul Anadolu Courthouse were arrested as part of probe into FETÖ.

Turkey's government has said the defeated coup, which left 241 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured, was organized by followers of Fetullah Gülen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania since 1999, and his FETÖ network.

Gülen is also accused of a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the parallel state.
