A HDP official said on Sunday that two shipments of Russian weapons are on their way to the Turkish Diyarbakır province which will be supplied to Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists in the region.

Gülten Kışanak, Diyarbakır city mayor from the PKK's political wing the People's Democratic Party (HDP), said at the Equal Free Citizen Association's office in Diyarbakır that they are about to sign a comprehensive agreement with the Russian government, adding, “Russia will support us; they will send us weapons and ammunitions. Two vehicles of weapons are on the way right now.”

Her remarks came amid Turkish military operations against PKK terrorists in Diyarbakır's Sur district and some other southeastern cities of the neighboring countries.

The military have already completed its “sweeping operation” in Silopi and Cizre cities in southeast Turkey. Interior ministry said that operations in Sur district of Diyarbakır are coming to an end soon, as over 90 percent of the city has already been cleared of terrorists.

PKK, officially recognized as a terror group by Turkey, the EU and the US, has been conducting its armed violence in Turkey's southeastern Kurdish-populated areas for more than 31 years and is responsible for killing of 40,000 civilians.

Turkey has claimed that some countries are supporting the terrorist organization, using them against Turkey by providing weapons and monetary assistance.

Kışanak's statement is the first ever that openly admit Russia's support for a terror group inside Turkey.

She also said that the Russian arms supply includes heavy weapons like anti-tank missiles.

Kışanak described the PKK terrorism as “resistance” and said “This resistance should be continued.”
