Six perish in two-vehicle collision in northern Turkey

Six people were killed in northern Turkey in a two-vehicle collision after flames engulfed a minibus carrying five from the same family

A speeding driver crashed into a minibus on a northern highway allegedly after loosing control of his car and then getting lodged on the median late Friday.


The minibus, which traveled in reverse direction into the highway, running between Samsun and another regional province, Ordu, was engulfed in fire after its LPG tank burst into flames.


The car's driver died on the spot after being ejected from his car during the high-speed crash near the Terme district.


Five occupants in the minibus were burned to death in the crash, which left four others injured, including the minibus driver.


Emergency services and fire fighters responded quickly to the deadly crash. The injured were hospitalized immediately after the accident.


The driver of the minibus, who sustained critical injuries, was sent to a Samsun hospital after receiving a preliminary medical treatment at a nearby hospital.


Fire fighters pulled the bodies of five occupants from the mınibus after putting out the blaze-engulfed vehicle.  


The investigation into the accident is still underway.
