A terrorist planning an attack targeting a National Intelligence Organization (MİT) building in Turkey’s southern province Mersin was shot dead.
Mersin state prosecutor Mustafa Ercan said security forces neutralized a “suicide bomber” who was preparing for an attack targeting a police station in the Yenişehir district.
“We believe the terrorist could be a member of Daesh. We will deliver a more detailed statement soon. Police teams successfully prevented the attack. An explosives vest was seized from the terrorist,” said Ercan, who added that he had visited the scene of the incident.
The investigation of the incident is ongoing.
