The vehicles of Turkey's 28th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command reached the town of Silopi in the southeastern Turkish province of Şırnak amid ongoing Mosul operation.

The vehicles pulled in to the 172nd Armored Brigade Commander Martyr Ercument Turkmen Barracks, 10 kilometers from the town of Silopi.

Ankara is tightening security by sending vehicles, tanks and tank recovery vehicles to the Iraqi border town of Silopi.

The vehicles departed on Tuesday from the capital, Ankara, and the central Turkish province of Çankırı, according to military sources.

The Mosul operation is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces.

In mid-2014, the Daesh terrorist group captured the northern city of Mosul and overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq. The operation began October 17.
