Turkey's Interior Minister Efkan Ala visited Yeni Şafak newspaper and Turkish television TVNET to offer support after Thursday's attack on the headquarters of two Turkish newspapers.

Ala emphasized that some parties who previously condemned attacks on media companies should not remain silent about the recent incident.

Everyone should condemn this attack without any prerequisites," Ala said in his statement in front of the Yeni Şafak daily's building.

"This is a visit to our friends. We are now in front of an institution which has never given up in difficult times. We will always be with them in their difficult times," Ala added.

“Our two newspapers, Yeni Şafak and Yeni Akit dailies, were attacked this morning with Molotov cocktails and long-barreled weapons. Thank God there were no casualties. There is just material damage to the buildings. I strongly condemn the attacks," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said previously.

Erdoğan said that those who responded harshly when windows of Hürriyet's main office were smashed during a riot did not have the same response against the assaults targeting Yeni Şafak and Yeni Akit.

The Yeni Şafak daily building was attacked by four masked men. It was reported that the men threw Molotov cocktails at the entrance of the building and opened fire.

A similar attack was carried out on Akit newspaper less than half an hour after the first attack.
