At least 46 PKK terrorists have been killed in southeastern Turkey during counterterrorism operations in the past one week, according to the Turkish General Staff.

Operations were carried out in provinces of Hakkari, Sirnak, Mardin, Siirt, and Diyarbakir between Sept. 14 and Wednesday, the military said in a statement.

At least 47 shelters and arsenals used by terrorists were destroyed. Forces also seized dozens of explosive materials and heavy ammunition.

In a separate incident in Hakkari province, a soldier was martyred and four others were wounded following a clash with PKK terrorists, according to a military source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media.

The wounded were taken to nearby hospitals, the source added.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015. Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians.
