Turkish President condemns twin Ankara blast

The President cancels his engagements in Istanbul to consult with government officials in the aftermath of the twin explosions

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has condemed the two explosions in capital Ankara, which have killed at least 30 people and injured 126.



“I condemn the attacks that have aimed at our unity. The attacks have targetted our fraternity. Our solidarity would be the most meaningful response we could give," President Erdoğan said in his written statement.



Erdoğan has urged citizens to act with common sense. “Our state is working with all its might to uncover the mystery over the incidents," he said, pledging that those involved in the attacks will be captured as soon as possible.



The Presidential Office announced Erdoğan cancelled his meeting scheduled in Istanbul for Saturday in the aftermath of the explosions.



He has made phone calls to Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu, Interior Minister Selami Altınok and Health Minister Mehmet Müezzinoğlu to enquire the first findings related to the the blasts.



The blasts took place near Ankara's central train station when a crowd gathered for a rally held by leftist NGOs.
