Turkish security authority has announced the reason for postponing yesterday's Istanbul derby between Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe
Turkish intelligence and police authorities were searching for four Daesh militants, one of whom detonated himself in a suicide bombing on Taksim's Istiklal Street while other three remain uncaptured.
In a comprehensive investigation of the Taksim attack, police learned the remaining three suicide bombers were planning “sensational activities.” All departments and units of police and security enforcement authorities were alert for possible incidents. Pictures and intelligence about suspected suicide bombers Savaş Yıldız, Ömer Deniz Dündar and Muhammed Zana Alkan were distributed to all intelligence branches across the country.
Following the postponement of yesterday's derby in Istanbul, security authorities said they had “valid information” about a bomb threat at the match.
In a live broadcast on the Turkish state-run TRT Haber channel, Turkish president Erdoğan also said that the match had been cancelled for security reasons.
