Ukraine make Germany work for 2-0 win

Germany beat Ukraine 2-0 in the two sides' Euro 2016 Group C match at Stade Pierre Mauroy, Lille Metropole late Sunday.



Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi first put the ball in the Ukraine net with a 19th minute header. Midfielder Toni Kroos produced the assist from a free kick.



Ukraine winger Yevhen Konoplyanka's 37th minute shot was cleared off the line by Germany center back Jerome Boateng.



A late strike on 92 minutes from Germany's Bastian Schweinsteiger wrapped up the game.



Despite the 2-0 score, Germany was forced to work hard for their win.



Earlier, Poland earned their first European finals win with a 1-0 defeat of Northern Ireland in the two sides' Euro 2016 Group C match in Nice.
