Turkish homemade helicopter joins international exercise

The indigenous helicopter, ATAK, joins in an international military exercise for the first time

A domestically made Turkish military helicopter, ATAK, joined in an international military exercise in the Konya province.



The exercise coordinated by Turkish Air Forces involved F-16 fighter jets, 5 helicopters, one cargo craft from Turkey, 4 aircrafts and one special team from the United States, 4 military helicopters and a special team from Azerbaijan, one cargo plane from Spain, two helicopters and a special force from Romania and a special team from Hungary and North Cyprus. Moreover Georgia and Amman joined the drill as observers.



The drills that started on March 30 and will last until April 10 saw the active involvement of fighter jets and the ATAK helicopters, including other helicopters, to several rescue operations with different scenarios. The cargo aircrafts from the U.S. and Spain have conducted a landing exercise on soil runway.



ATAK helicopters took the safety role during the drills, while other helicopters fired at pre-determined points.
