Cars and the building of a resort hotel, where the Turkish President stayed before leaving for Istanbul late Friday, are still pockmarked with hundreds of bullet holes. This is what officials said a day after the terror attack in western Turkey struck Yazıcı Grand Mares Hotel. Reports said two to three military helicopters opened fire at the hotel where the embattled President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was spending the day in the resort town of Marmaris, just hours before the crushed military coup. An eye witness said three helicopters airlifted a 10-person armed group at Yazıcı Grand Mares Hotel. The armed group, wearing masks, were spotted encircled the hotel and opened fire at local residents near the hotel at around 1 pm on Friday. At least 5 police officers were injured in the assault and hospitalized. Hours later on Friday, Erdoğan said the armed group thought he was still at the hotel when they stormed the hotel. He was speaking at Ataturk international airport in Istanbul, where he landed after calling his citizens to stand up against the coup plot.
