Addressing a group meeting of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party in Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan urged the Muslim world to unite against terrorism. He stated that associating terrorist organizations such as FETÖ, Daesh, al-Qaeda and Boko Haram with Islam is the biggest defamation to the religion. “How could a terror organization that slaughters, martyrs Muslims during Friday prayers be related to Islam?" he said.
