Suicide bombings over the last 20 years in Turkey

Terror struck Turkey once again, this time in a triple suicide attack at Atatürk International Airport, the country's largest airport and Europe's third busiest, earlier this week. Turkey has experienced 29 suicide attacks in the past 20 years. In the suicide bombings since 1996, a total of 147 people have been killed and 1071 people wounded. Tuesday's malicious attack, which claimed at least 44 lives, directed attention on suicide bombings once again. Since 1996, when the first suicide bombing took place in Turkey, most of the terrorist actions were conducted by Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists or groups affiliated with them. However, the latest attack is connected to a relatively new terrorist organization, Daesh.
