At least 140 Palestinians were injured in clashes with the Israeli army across the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).

In a statement, the PRCS said its personnel had treated scores of injured Palestinians in different parts of the West Bank, including two who were injured by live ammunition, 16 others who were injured by rubber bullets and another 29 who had suffered temporary asphyxia after inhaling tear gas.

Clashes erupted Wednesday near the West Bank cities of Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Bethlehem, Hebron and Nablus.

U.S. President Donald Trump last week announced his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The move sparked demonstrations in the occupied Palestinian territories and several Muslim countries.
