The Iraqi town of Bashiqa, located 10 kilometers from Mosul, has been rescued from the Daesh terrorists by Peshmerga forces with the support of Turkish bombarders on the seventh day of the Mosul operation. Daesh terrorists attempted to conduct bomb attacks to detract Peshmerga from the town; however the attack attempts were foiled as explosive-laden vehicles were destroyed by anti-tank shells remotely. Daesh terrorists fled towards Mosul after the operation.

Turkey played a significant role in the successful operation against Daesh. After Peshmerga forces asked for help; Turkish howitzers, tanks and multi-barrel rocket launchers took action while forces trained by Turkey proceeded towards the town.

The operation supported by Turkey was verified by Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım who also said that Turkey took action against Daesh over the requestsfor help.

Meanwhile, the attacks carried out by Daesh terrorists continue causing civilian fatalities, as two women and a child killed and five others are wounded as explosives, trapped by Daesh terrorists, were detonated.

An Iraqi army officer said Daesh terrorists have been using families as a human shield.

'112 Daesh terrorists killed'

Meanwhile, Iraqi forces took control of several more villages and said 112 Daesh terrorists were killed in the ongoing efforts against the terrorist organization in the north of the city. In al-Sura village alone, five Daesh suicide bombers killed.

Journalistic Freedoms Observatory said one more journalist were killed while trying to record the clashes in Kayyarah town. Alsumaria TV Journalist Ali Risan was killed during the clashes.

Previously, Daesh conducted a gun attack targeting Kirkuk Türkmeneli television. The incident left Turkmen journalist Ahmet Necmettin Haceroğlu killed and television director Sühely Kasım wounded.

The Mosul operation is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces.

In mid-2014, the Daesh terrorist group captured the northern city of Mosul and overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq.
