The Turkish military stated on Monday that Turkish warplanes struck 15 terrorist targets in the al Bab area of Syria on the 83rd day of the Euphrates Shield operation that is being conducted for sweeping the terrorists in the northern parts of the war-torn country.

During the airstrike, two operations centers, two headquarters and 10 defensive positions were destroyed.

On the 83rd day of the operation, the moderate opposition took over control of seven neighborhoods, Kubbat ash Shaikh, Susiyan, Hadath, Vagan, Evlan, Dana and Kadiran.

With the recent regain from the terrorists, the moderate opposition so far took control of about 1,620 square kilometers of Syrian territory, the Turkish military said.

Four Turkish soldiers wounded

On the same day, nine moderate opposition fighters of Free Syrian Army (FSA) were martyred, while 52 opposition fighters and four Turkish soldiers were slightly martyred.

The Turkish soldiers were wounded as an armored vehicle was hit by a rocket fired by the terrorists.

Previously, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said seizing control of al Bab, around 30 km (19 miles) south of the border, is a goal of the operation before targeting Manbij, from which the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD) terrorists recently drove Daesh terrorist, along with Raqqa, the stronghold of Daesh.

Operation against Daesh and PKK-affiliated terrorists

The operation also targeted the PKK-affiliated YPG terrorists in the region and 10 of the YPG terrorists were 'neutralized' in shelling over the last 24 hours as they tried to seize control of the Tal Jijan area, the statement said.

Ankara denounces the YPG as an affiliate of the PKK terrorists which has been conducting terrorist attacks targeting Turkey for three decades and which is designated as a terrorist group by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. However, Washington insists on indicating that YPG is their ally against Daesh, despite Turkey's warnings.

The Turkish military launched the operation, dubbed 'Euphrates Shield', on August 24. The Turkish military is conducting the operation amid high security measure to avoid any civilian casualties.

Since the beginning of the operation, fighters destroyed 36 mines and 1,520 explosives that were located by the Daesh terrorists.
