A high-level Hamas delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for a days-long visit, during which delegation members are expected to meet with Iranian officials, according to a Hamas statement.
“The delegation, led by Hamas deputy chief Saleh Arouri, arrived in the Iranian capital at noon today [Friday],” the statement read.
While in Tehran, delegation members are expected to meet with senior Iranian officials, the statement added, without providing further details regarding the delegation’s itinerary.
Talks are expected to tackle Hamas-Iran relations and recent developments in the Palestinian political arena, especially a landmark reconciliation agreement -- signed earlier this month in Cairo -- between Hamas and rival Palestinian faction Fatah.
Longtime allies, Hamas and Tehran recently reconciled following a years-long falling-out over the Syria conflict, in which they supported opposing sides.
