Iraq launches operation to retake Kirkuk from KRG

A general on Friday announced that the Iraqi army had initiated an operation to retake the disputed province of Kirkuk which was included in the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) illegal referendum on sept. 25.

In a phone conversation with French news agency AFP, the general stated, “The Iraqi armed forces are advancing to retake their military positions that were taken over during the June 2014 events.”
