Pakistan's PM: Pakistan supports the struggle against FETÖ

During a joint press conference in Turkey, Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he supported Turkey and the struggle against FETÖ

Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif delivered a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yıldırım in Ankara, Turkey, on Thursday.



“Turkey is like our second home," said Sharif at the press conference held on the second day of this three-day Turkey visit.



“I would like to point out that we are in solidarity with Turkey against the 15 July coup attempt. The Turkish people made a great sacrifice by going out onto the streets and standing in front of tanks. Pakistan supports the struggle against FETÖ," he continued.



Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Pakistan marks its 70th year in 2017.



“FETÖ is a threat to the Pakistani public," reiterated Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.



“Pakistan is a strategically important country in terms of its location, young population and natural resources. It is also a key country for all developments in Asia. Despite the difficulties Pakistan is facing, we are honoured by its progress in all areas," he continued.



The two heads of state will will co-chair the 5th session of the Pakistan-Turkey High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).



“Turkey is determined to carry forward the solidarity between our two countries," said Yıldırım.



Within the HLSCC, Turkey and Pakistan have signed over 50 agreements and memoranda of understanding.
