Russian President Putin Vladimir Putin called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan concerning the TurkStream Project on Friday.

Putin, in his call to Erdoğan, informed him that the pipe laying operations in deep waters had commenced.

Putin, following his visit to the pipe laying vessel ‘Pioneering Spirit’, which is currently constructing the TurkStream in Anapa, in his phone call with Turkish President Erdoğan, stated that the pipe laying process had been initiated, Sputnik reported.

Pointing out that the agreement projecting the construction of TurkStream had just been signed in September, “Construction started after a period of 7 months. The degree of Turkish-Russian cooperation is higher than that of those with many other countries. While the approval process takes years in the transactions carried out with other countries, we have completed this process in a few months with Turkey. No doubt this occurs as a result of direct support you give,” noted Putin.

Putin also articulated to Erdoğan that they were ready to supply Russian gas to Southern and Southeastern European countries through Turkey.

Akkuyu message

Thanking President Erdoğan, in light of Turkey’s providing a work permit to the Russian company Rosatom in the Akkuyu nuclear power plant project, “We hope to actualize our plans on other issues in due time, as well. More in particular, the first block of the nuclear plant will be activated on schedule,” Putin said.
