The Syrian affiliate of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) has opened office in Russia's capital Moscow.

The bureau is said to be representing so-called PYD cantons of Jazeera, Kobane and Afrin.

The Diyarbakır MP of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Feleknas Uca and 'PYD Russian Representative' Abdussalam Ali and "Syrian Kurdish Representative" Senam Muhammed attended the opening ceremony.

A photo of jailed PKK terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan was seen on a wall behind the PYD officials at the opening ceremony in Moscow.

The PYD expressed its plans to open offices in Paris, Berlin, Washington,DC and other countries as well.

PKK, PYD, Russia cooperation

Outlawed PKK militants have been fighting in Turkey's southeast for 31 years in a conflict that has killed at least 40,000 people.

The Russian military, which started “anti-terror" airstrikes under the name of the fight against Daesh, has been targeting moderate opposition fighters and civilians rather than Daesh militants.

After the downing of the Russian jet, Russia started cooperating with PYD on the battlefield, as a move against Turkey.

Turkey wants Syrian president Bashar al-Assad removed from power, whereas Russia purports to support him in the ongoing civil war.
