Swedish Democrats are handing out anti-immigration leaflets in Greece, one of the countries that has experienced a surge in the arrivals of people seeking entry to the European Union (EU) in recent months. The far-right party has apparently intended to discourage them from coming to the continent.

Greece is still trying to cope with the influx of refugees and migrants attempting to cross into Europe from Turkey. An estimated 600,000 people have reached the Greek islands through Turkey so far in 2015. The 28-nation bloc estimates that three million more migrants may reach the EU's borders by the end of 2016.

International Business Times, (IBT) quoting Swedish Democrat party spokesman Joakim Wallerstein, reported that far-right party members were sent to 20 locations along Europe's external border, including the Greek island, to hand out the leaflets to asylum seekers.

Sweden feels the strain of the refugee influx

The party's decision, made on Oct 15, aims to stem the seemingly endless flow of refugees and asylum-seekers into Europe from the countries in the Middle East and beyond. Sweden accepted the highest number of refugees per capita in the European Union last year.

Opening with the motto "No money, no jobs, no homes," the leaflet warns that Swedish people, known as friendly, generous and hardworking, are falling apart.

“Our wealth is gone. We have to borrow money to provide education and basic health care for our citizens. Due to decades of mass immigration our previously safe country is not safe anymore," the leaflet warns.

The leaflet continues on to say, "Sweden is temporarily helping those who flee war and terror, but it can currently only offer tents and camp beds. And you will eventually be sent back home."

"Forced marriages and polygamy will never be accepted. Halal slaughter and wearing niqab or burqa in public places will be forbidden in our country," it declares.
