Trump stumps pollsters, becomes 45th US president

While Republican Donald Trump reaches a surprising 288 delegates and wins the election against Democrat Hillary Clinton, he indicates unification in his first speech as president

Millions of United States citizens have turned out to vote for the their new president after a long 18-month campaign process and elected Republican Donald Trump as their new leader.



The recent results showed Trump's delegate number reaching 288; while Democrat Hillary Clinton's delegate number is 218.



The candidate who receives an absolute majority of 270 electoral votes was to be elected as the new president of the country.



Donald Trump took the stage as U.S. President for the first time and gave the signals of unification by saying that he will be the president of all Americans.



"It is time for us to come together as one united people. I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans. For those who have chosen to not support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I am reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can unify our great country," he said.



"It's a movement comprised of Americans from all races, religions, backgrounds and beliefs who expect our government to serve the people, and serve the people it will. Working together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the American dream," he added.







46 percent desire more conservative policy


"Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential. The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer," the president -elect said.



Across the U.S., 31 percent of the total voters are doubtful about the candidate they vote for; while 52 percent of the country finds the U.S.' efforts against the Daesh terrorist organization 'insufficient'.



Also, 54 percent of the total voters approve the policies of Barack Obama, while the remaining find him unsuccessful.



Twenty-nine percent of the voters expect Obama's policies to be sustained; while 18 percent desire a more liberal president and 46 percent desire a more conservative president.
