Turkey-backed Syrian opposition groups said they clashed on Sunday with government forces near a city captured last week from Daesh in northern Syria, the second such confrontation in that area in recent weeks.

There was no immediate comment from the Syrian army.

A statement from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) released on Sunday evening said the clash had taken place south of the city of al-Bab near the town of Tadef, which government forces took from Daesh on Sunday. An opposition fighter with an FSA group in the area said the incident took place on Sunday evening.

The Turkey-backed FSA and Syrian government forces are fighting Daesh in separate campaigns in the region northeast of Aleppo. Russia, which backs the Syrian government, intervened to halt a previous such clash earlier this month.
