Ankara issued Berlin with a diplomatic note following the news that FETÖ fugitive Adil Öksüz was spotted in Germany.

Fugitive Adil Öksüz was FETÖ’s “Air Force imam;” a term used to describe Gülen’s various key figures who convey instructions they and other FETÖ terrorists comply with.

In the diplomatic note issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, it stated that Öksüz was sighted in various German cities. The note enquired whether German authorities were aware of this information and requested an investigation into the claims cited in various news sources.

The note, pointing out that the Öksüz was a key figure in the July 15 coup attempt, requested that if Öksüz’s location is determined, he should be returned to Turkey in accordance with an agreement between Germany and Turkey covering criminals.

Sources from the German Foreign Ministry have stated that Berlin has no information proving that Öksüz is in Germany, however such statements have been unsatisfactory for Turkish officials.

Various news outlets posted articles referring to Turkish diaspora living in Germany as the sources who claimed that they had seen Öksüz in the German cities of Frankfurt and Ulm, and that he had been granted temporary asylum in the state of Baden-Württemberg.

In Germany, asylum requests are processed by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees rather than by the State Department.

The German authorities do not share information regarding asylum seekers with the countries these people come from, citing their obligations based on international regulations.

German press has reported that since Turkey’s July 15 coup attempt, approximately 4,000 Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) terrorists have moved to Germany.

A total of 249 people were martyred and more than 2,100 injured in the coup attempt perpetrated by FETÖ.

The failed coup was organized by followers of U.S.-based Fetullah Gülen, who has pursued a long-running campaign to overthrow the government through supporters within the Turkish state, particularly the military, police and judiciary.
