It is expected that developments in Syria and Iraq as well as regional and international matters will be on the agenda.

The vice president is heading a high-ranking delegation on a two-day visit. The visit is expected to boost bilateral ties between Tehran and Ankara in various areas.

Jahangiri is accompanied by Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mohammad Shariatmadari, Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi, Chief of Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization Ali Asqar Mounesan and Chief of Central Bank of Iran Valiollah Seif.

The international D-8 summit, with the theme “Expanding Opportunities through Cooperation,” will be attended by many international leaders including Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev and the vice president of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla.

Two of the D-8 members, Turkey and Indonesia, are among the world’s 20 biggest economies.
