Turkey's state-run aid agency inaugurated a school in northern Afghanistan’s Faryab province on Friday.

The school built and equipped by Turkey's Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has 16 classrooms.

Faryab’s Deputy Governor Abdul Muqeem Rasih, Provincial Education Director Mohammad Yasin Arsalan, Turkey’s Consul General to Mazar-i Sharif Mustafa Erdeviren, TIKA’s Coordinator to Mazar-i Sharif Zeki Bulduk and students attended the inauguration ceremony.

Rasih said that the friendship between Afghanistan and Turkey is “eternal and everlasting”, adding that Turkey’s aid to their country was very important, especially in the education sector.

He added that there was a shortage of schools in Faryab.

"Thanks to this school which TIKA has built, this problem in the region has been overcome," he said.

Thanking the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish people for standing with the Afghan people, Rasih said Turkey carries out aid to all regions of Afghanistan.

Bulduk said Turkey had built dozens of schools in Afghanistan through TIKA where thousands of students were getting an education.
