A high-ranking Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) member was killed in airstrikes launched by Turkish Air Force fighter jets on Feb. 19- 20 against targets that belonged to the terror group in northern Iraq, according to reports posted on websites affiliated with the terrorist organization.
Gıyasettin Gür, who goes by the nom de guerre "Bawer Xebat," was among the terrorists killed in the airstrike that pounded PKK sanctuaries in the northern Iraqi region of Zap.
Gür was arrested along with one of his friends while studying at the University of Marmara after authorities determined they were PKK bombers.
He escaped to the mountains after he was released from jail in 2011.
