63 terror targets hit in Syria: Turkish General Staff

According to Turkish Armed Forces, 63 PKK/PYD and Daesh terror elements bombed in a bid to clear out the Turkey-Syria border area from terrorists by supporting the opposition fighters

Along the way, in the operations, as parts of the Operation Euphrates Shield, conducted without air support, 60 targets belonging to Daesh and 3 PKK/PYD elements including shelters, command and control facilities, weapons and vehicles were brought under fire and destroyed, Presidency of General Staff of Turkey says.






In the course of clashes, 2 opposition fighters were martyred and 8 others were wounded. Although air forces were not used for operations, aircrafts on the ground have been tasked for hitting targets which would appear abruptly. Supporting opposition forces in liberated areas, Turkish bomb squads defused 19 hand-made explosives.



From the beginning of the campaign which had started in August 24, 2016, Turkey and the Free Syrian Army have liberated 207 residential areas from Daesh's and PKK/PYD's grip and taken control over those areas, amounting to a 1720-sq-km area. Also, 36 mines and 1575 hand-made explosives, most of which were planted, have been defused, the General Staff added.
