Peshmerga forces have seized oil wells since 2014 and violated the blue line extending from Tel Afar to the Bardah district, Iraqi Member of Parliament Fevzi Ekrem stated.

He said that the Barzani government poses a threat for Iraq’s future as much as the Daesh terrorist organization does, and characterized the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani as “a figure dragging the region into the fire even though he does not have any official title.” Noting that Barzani was elected as the KRG President in 2009 and that his term ended in August 2015, Ekrem said that the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has rendered the Erbil Assembly inoperable for the past two years.

The Iraqi MP said that the KDP and Barzani’s government is a typical tribal hegemony in spite of the “democratic” epithet in its title. The Barzani family laundered made a great deal of money from the Iraqis and Kurds in the region, particularly from oil and border revenue, he added.

The KRG relies on U.S.-Israel

Fevzi Ekrem, pointing out that Barzani puts the region in a dangerous position for the so-called “Kurdistan” that he regards as his “childhood dream,” said that Turkmens, Arabs and the Kurds will pay the heaviest price in this chaotic atmosphere.

“Barzani, who dreams of being the only leader of the Kurdish masses after the death of Jalal Talabani, is preparing for a war against the Iraqi army although he holds no authority,” he said. Ekrem also stressed that Barzani relies on the U.S.-Israel axis.

'No difference between Peshmerga and Daesh'

“Legal action has been initiated against the illegitimate referendum held on Sept. 25. Iraqi courts will punish the actors of this illegal attempt. Whoever is responsible in the KRG will be held accountable, particularly Barzani. The dismissed governor of Kirkuk Najmiddin Karim, who played a big role as a provocateur in this period will also be punished. Moreover, the Peshmerga has no official status and assignment in the Iraqi Constitution. The presence of the Peshmerga and its occupation since 2014 constitute a crime. The Peshmerga and Daesh have no difference in terms of the current breaches and violations of rights.”
