Iran, Russia and the Bashar al-Assad coalition, and the United States-Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) alliance, simultaneously sends forces to Deir ez-Zor, which is still held by the Daesh terrorist organization, and has the largest natural gas and oil reserves in the world. Thousands of troops and armored vehicles and ammunition, belonging to the U.S.- PKK-affiliated Democratic Union Party (PYD) terrorist organization from the northern and eastern line, and Russia, Iran and Assad army from the southern line, are deployed to the region. The Additionally, the U.S. transports the Maghawir Al-Thawra group in al-Tanf to the region in helicopters. Dozens of combat vehicles depart for the region from Rimelan, the biggest U.S. air base in Syria.
The Assad regime, seizing the strategic Al-Sukhnah region in the Deir ez-Zor-Homs line, has advanced to Al-Kom. The Assad regime on Tuesday deployed 10 fighter jets at Kuveyris Air Base, arriving in an area only 47 km away from the Deir ez-Zor city center with Russia’s intense aerial support. More than 10,000 Iran-backed terrorists and Assad soldiers are still being sent to the region for the Deir ez-Zor military operation.
With the most significant crude oil reserves of the Middle East, Deir ez-Zor is also known as the Syria’s source of phosphate. The U.S.-PYD cooperation from the east of Raqqa has gained ground until al-Tabni, which is 37 km away from the center of Deir ez-Zor. It is reported that regional clashes might take place in the forthcoming days in Deir ez-Zor, where both sides sent a great deal of arms, ammunition and troops.
The Deir ez-Zor - Al-Bukama region is Syria’s doorway to Iraq. Hashd al-Shaabi forces continue their attacks targeting Al-Qa'im in Iraq. The Assad regime forces, aiming to achieve dominance in the region, wants to realize the Iraq-Damascus-Lebanon Shiite corridor. On the other hand, the U.S.-PKK alliance aims to control the energy lines, and reach the Mediterranean.
