Iraq is facing a threat of clashes within Shi'ite and Sunni Turkmen, after Daesh is swept from Mosul, as 40 percent of Turkmen are Shi'ite and 60 percent Sunni.

Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) President Masoud Barzani criticized the absence of a political plan to prevent chaos after the operation.

Mosul Provincial Council member Lokman Reşadiyeli is calling for measures to be taken against any possible violence that may occur following the operation.

"When Daesh first entered Mosul, the residents didn't react much to the terrorists due to the strict sectarian-based policies of the Baghdad government. However, now due to the terrorist activities of Daesh, including wild executions and kidnappings, now 80 percentage of Mosul is against Daesh," he said.

Yazidis, backed by PKK, likely to take revenge on Sunnis

"The Yazidis are willing to take revenge on the Sunnis as Daesh kidnapped many Yazidi women, despite the Sunni community not being responsible for the incidents. After Daesh is swept from Mosul, deadly violence will occur between Yazidis backed by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists and Sunnis," he said.

Shi'ite Turkmen are coordinating with Hasdhi Shaabi militia

Iraqi Turkmen responsible for the Front Telafer, Nurettin Kaplan, also expressed concerns on the issue, saying that the population of the region has decreased from 235,000 to 13,000.

"Shi'ite Turkmen are coordinating with Hasdhi Shaabi militia, because people are not relying on the government," he said.

The Mosul operation is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces.

In mid-2014, the Daesh terrorist group captured the northern city of Mosul and overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq.
