King Abdullah II receives phone call from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, says Royal Jordanian Court

Jordan's King Abdullah II and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed the importance of coordinating Arab efforts in light of developments in the region.

This came during a phone call received by Abdullah from Sheikh Mohammed on Sunday following Iran's retaliatory missile and drone strikes in response to an Israeli attack on April 1 targeting its diplomatic mission in the Syrian capital, Damascus in which seven Iranian military advisers were killed, including three senior commanders.

The statement released by the Royal Jordanian Court did not mention whether the leaders discussed Iran's military response.

The call also addressed “efforts to reach an immediate and permanent cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and to double humanitarian, medical and relief assistance and deliver it to the people in the Strip through all possible means,” according to the statement.

Iran launched a barrage of drones and missiles at Israel late on Saturday in response to the April 1 attack on its consulate.

The attack drew sharp reactions from Iranian government officials, who vowed a "decisive response."

According to some unconfirmed reports, Iran fired more than 300 drones and missiles in the attack, which lasted several hours, many of which were intercepted by Israeli air defense systems.
