Attorneyship personnel Ali Karslı, who resisted FETÖ terrorists who attacked the TÜRKSAT Gölbaşı Campus attempting to cut broadcasting lines, fell a martyr in the same car with his colleague Facility Janitor Ahmet Özsoy.

Ali left the public housing located in the TÜRKSAT Campus after hearing about the events around 22:00 and decided to try and stop the putschists. On the night of the events, while he was still at home, a helicopter raked the TÜRKSAT Building and their public housings. Ali’s wife and children didn’t want him to go out as they had been scared of gunshots. Comforting them, Ali went to his place of duty considering the possibility of putschists taking over the TÜRKSAT Building.

When the attacks began on the night of July 15th, the deputy director general asked three people to inspect around the building for security reasons. These three people were Security Chief Serhat Derecik, Security Director Ahmet Özsoy and Attorneyship Personnel Ali Karslı. Inspecting with their vehicle, Ali was behind the wheel. In the meantime, putschists were deploying some of their traitor soldiers to the highlands behind TÜRKSAT from helicopters whose lights were turned off. And the plotters occupied the TÜRKSAT Building.

Patrolling the TÜRKSAT Building, Ali and his friends suspected that the putschists had turned off their helicopter lights. Noticing occupying troops in the dark, Ali suddenly drove the vehicle over traitors. Coup plotters raked the vehicle the three personnel were in. Ali, behind the wheel, died a martyr on the spot after a bullet hit his head. TÜRKSAT Security Director Ahmet Özsoy, who was in the car, became a martyr with Ali, while the third person, Security Chief Serhat Derecik survived and was only wounded.

Forty-four-year-old Martyr Ali Karslı was buried in his hometown, Çorum on July 17th.

The name Martyr Ali Karslı was given to an elementary school in Başakşehir, İstanbul.

One of the FETÖ targets of on the night of the coup attempt was the Türksat building. A team of 13 coup soldiers led by a lieutenant colonel from the Special Forces Command tried to bring the communication network to a halt. Coup soldiers could not manage to stop the broadcast and Türksat headquarters was bombed four times between 3:14 a.m. and 3:19 a.m.

The traitors in the coup attempt attacked TÜRKSAT, the sole communications satellite operator in Turkey, in order to cut broadcasts. The putchists that landed by helicopter at Türksat’s Complex in Gölbaşı first closed the entries and exits. The putschists rained bullets on the car of Türksat Complex Director Ahmet Özsoy, who came to the complex to hinder the coup attempt, martyring Özsoy and Ali Karslı of the four people who were in the vehicle.
