One of the youths of July 15, the 23-year-old Cennet Yiğit was a police officer for 10 months. Martyred during the bomb attack on the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters, Yiğit was to be engaged 1 month later.
Born in 1993, Cennet Yiğit was accepted to the Police Academy while studying Art Education at Gazi University and finished both at the same time. Achieving her childhood dream of becoming a police officer, Cennet Yiğit was with her beloved one on July 15, the night of the vicious coup attempt. Yiğit, who immediately left for Special Operations Headquarters as soon as she heard the news and rushed to get ammunition, was martyred after a cluster bomb hit her.
Deputy Police Chief Cennet Yiğit’s funeral prayer was held in the Merkez Bayramlı Mosque, in Bünyan, Kayseri.

Martyr Deputy Police Chief Cennet Yiğit’s family, who resides in Bünyan, Kayseri, made a display cabinet, in which the boots she wore during her operation in Sur, Diyarbakır, her Special Forces uniform, a piece of ribbon cut in her engagement ceremony, the brushes that she used to paint, a fragment of the cluster bomb which killed her, and a cell phone which became dysfunctional after the explosion are displayed.
Crying while holding the cluster bomb which killed his daughter in his hand, the martyr’s father Yahya Kemal Yiğit said, “I want to look the pilot who dropped this bomb, in the eye.”Feeling both pain and pride, Yahya Kemal Yiğit stated, “May God never let our nation live those days again.” Her father added that he would give thousands of children for his country, let alone one child.
The martyr’s name was given to a park in Bünyan Kayseri, and to kindergartens in Konyaaltı, Antalya and Kahta, Adıyaman, and to a middle school in Kayseri.
