Special Operations Commander Fikret, was on duty during the July 15th coup attempt, and was martyred during the bombing at Gölbaşı, Ankara. 51 year old 3rd rank Police Commissioner, Fikret was on duty at the Gölbaşı Special Operations Department during coup attempt. Clashing with Gülenist traitors who attacked the operations building, he was martyred during the bombing.

Originally from Kalkandere, Rize, Fikret was married and the father of 2 children. Working as a nurse in Çorum, his wife Hatice, 13 year old daughter Elif and 3 year old Ahmet, received the news of his martyrdom while in Çorum.

He saved 15 people from suicide

Fikret reportedly talked almost 15 people out of suicide, during his service in Çorum as negotiator in suicide incidents. He had served in operations in Cizre, Silopi, Şırnak and Sur with temporary duty.

He was buried in the Edirnekapı Martyrs’ Cemetery on July 18th. The martyr’s name was given to a multi-program high school in Kalkandere, Rize and an elementary school in Fatih, Istanbul.

Colonel Ahmet Tosun ordered the putschist who attacked the Gölbaşı Special Forces Command to drop a bomb. The first aircraft commanded by Pilot Colonel Mustafa Azimetli and Ekrem Aydogdu marked the spot with a laser, while the second aircraft commanded by Mehmet Çetin Kaplan and Ertan Koral bombarded the ground. The first bombings killed 17 police officers.
