Martyr Police Officer Mehmet Karacatilki who became a Special Operations police officer at his mother’s request, was the target of bombs dropped by putschists on July 15th. His family received the news of his martyrdom two days later.
Mehmet was 32 years old, he was from Osmaniye and worked in the Ankara Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters. He was married to Halime Karacatilki and had two children. He was buried in his hometown of Osmaniye.
His mother Nuriye, wanted her son to be a police officer. She stated that she is proud of her son for being martyred and added, “I’ve never known a person like my son. He is very unique.” She also said they were able to receive her son’s body after 2 days and buried their son in the martyrs’ Cemetery in Osmaniye.
The name Martyr Mehmet Karacatilki was given to an imam hatip high school in Osmaniye.
