July 15 Coup Attempt Serkan Göker

Serkan Göker

Serkan Göker had quit his job in Special Operations a short time before the July 15th coup attempt. He was martyred after going to Gölbaşı as soon as he heard about the coup attempt.

Göker quit his job on May 25, 2016, to be able to build his own company. He went to his friends at the Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters, as soon as he heard of the coup attempt. Göker was martyred along with his old colleagues by F-16 jets that took off from the 141st and the 143rd fleets.

“I can sacrifice my children for this country”

Göker, who was married, with 4 children feared he would not become a martyr since he quit his job as a police officer. He would share this with a lot of people. He was wrong to have this fear since martyrdom found him after he retired.

The 39 year old Göker was buried in his hometown of Yozgat on July 18th. During the funeral, his mother, Fatma Göker, said, “My son made me experience this. May God let him rest in heaven. I can sacrifice my children for this country. I won’t cry. I won’t let our enemies be happy. My son’s children are ready to die for this country too.”
