Ufuk Baysal, who worked as a police chief in the Gölbaşı Special Operations Department Headquarters, was working during the July 15th coup attempt. The 42 year old Baysal was martyred after the second bombing attack on the Headquarters.
Baysal, who was working at the Gölbaşı Special Operations Headquarters, talked to his wife, Nuriye Baysal, for the last time at 11:30 AM. He told his wife, “We’ve heard about the coup attempt on TV, be careful.” Baysal was martyred in the bombing attack on the headquarters. He was buried in Beyköy, Düzce after the funeral that was held on July 18th.
“I’m at ease”
The father of the 4th Degree Police Chief, Ramazan Baysal, who resides in the Beyköy district of Düzce, said that his son respected his job very much. He said, “I’m Ufuk Baysal’s father. I heard the news of my son’s martyrdom. My son respected his job. He had been doing his job with all his heart and soul since he was in school. I’m at ease, he was working for his government as hard as he could. That’s how my son ended his life.”
The name of martyr Ufuk Baysal was given to an elementary school in Düzce and an Anatolian Imam Hatip high school in Kepez, Antayla.
