July 15 Coup Attempt Mustafa Direkli

Mustafa Direkli

Mustafa Direkli was one of the youngest martyrs who resisted against the coup attempt by the FETÖ traitors. As they were going to Sabiha Gökçen Airport with his friends, he joined the crowd walking towards the putschists. Direkli was martyred by the putschists’ gunfire.

Direkli was from Şanlıurfa and 20 years old. He studied interior architecture in Okan University. After he heard about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s call, he went into the streets telling his father, “When will we go, if we don’t go now?” Direkli died a martyr’s death in the arms of his friends, after putschist soldiers shot at the crowd in front of the toll booths in Orhanlı. He had told people around him, “What’s the worst thing that can be? We would be martyrs. That’s not something that anybody could reach. Who are you afraid of?”

The name of the martyr is eternal now

He was buried in the Bediüzzaman Family Graveyard after the funeral that took place in the Şehbenderiye mosque.

The name of the mosque located in the Karaköprü district in the martyr’s hometown of Şanlıurfa was changed from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Mosque to Martyr Mustafa Direkli Mosque. The name of martyr Mustafa Direkli was given to a park of the Şanlıurfa Haliliye Municipality and a middle school in Karaköprü in Şanlıurfa.
