Başbakan Erdoğan'ın Abdullah Gül'ü Cumhurbaşkanı adayı ilan etmesinin ardından karar büyük bir sevgi gösterileri ile karşılandı. Anadolu'da birçok kentte gül dağıtılırken, destek pankartları açıldı.
Başbakan Yardımcısı ve Dışişleri Bakanı Abdullah Gül'ün Cumhurbaşkanı adaylığının açıklandığı andan itibaren Bakan Gül'ün kişisel web sitesine birbirinden ilginç sevgi ve destek mesajları yağdı. Türkiye'nin birçok kent sokaklarında gül dağıtılırken, destek pankartları açıldı.
Yoğunluk nedeniyle zaman zaman erişilemeyen sitede, vatandaşlar birbirinden ilginç destek ve sevgi mesajları gönderdi. İşte Gül'ün sitesinde yer alan mesajlardan bazıları şöyle:
