Kıbrıs Rum kesimindeki anamuhalefet Demokratik Seferberlik Partisi (DİSİ) Başkanı Nikos Anastasiadis, Avrupa Halk Partisi'ne üye partilerin liderlerine mektup göndererek, Türkiye'nin "Kıbrıs Cumhuriyeti"ni tanımadığını beyan eden deklarasyona karşı, "Avrupa Birliği'nin net bir karşı deklarasyonla cevap vermesini" istedi. Anastasiadis, mektubunda, "müzakere çerçevesi belgesiyle Ankara'nın, Kıbrıs sorununun çözümü için; Kıbrıslı Rumların endişelerini de dikkate alarak, şartsız şekilde müzakere masasına oturacağını taahhüt etmesinin garanti altına alınması gerektiğini" iddia etti.
