Pro-prisoner rights group occupy AP office in Turk
A leftist association stormed the office of the American news agency the Associated Press in the Turkish capital on Monday demanding improved conditions at prisons in Turkey, witnesses said.
Some 29 members of the left-wing Solidarity Association of Prisoners' Families (TAYAD) took over the office and were refusing to let staff leave, AP reporter Suzan Fraser said by telephone.
Police have surrounded the building in downtown Ankara.
Protesters displayed banners in the windows of the office calling for an end to holding prisoners in isolation.
